Imec vzw

Imec is the world's leading independent nanoelectronics R&D hub. The combination of our talent, infrastructure, and partner network enables breakthroughs towards microchips that are smaller, faster, more affordable, and more sustainable. We combine that nanotech expertise with data and AI to create and support applications for a smarter, better future. The work in this project will be performed at IMEC’s Centre for Microsystems Technology (CMST), located at the University of Gent. CMST is specialised in electronic interconnection and assembly on various substrates (laminate, thick and thin films, flex and stretch substrates), optical interconnection and opto-electronics packaging, and electronic and optical design activities, bringing together expertise from electronics, mechanics, physics and chemistry.

Role within SmILE

Imec-Cmst leads Work Package 4 (WP4) on Hardware Design, Sensor, and System Integration. In collaboration with the technical consortium partners, the team will integrate the chip, sensors, antenna, and other components into a single, hermetically sealed package with interconnections to external sensors and actuators.
